Sia’s Christmas music CD review
I was surprised when Sia’s Christmas music CD arrived in a jiffy bag a few days ago.
Inside the bag was musician Sia’s latest “Everyday is Christmas” CD featuring ten brand new Christmas themed songs written by the musician, a Sia Christmas tree ball and a snow globe featuring a picture of Sia wearing a festive coloured red and green wig.
Santa’s coming to town is probably the catchiest songs on the album, and my niece loves dancing to. Sia does an excellent job of trying to get everyone into the Christmas spirit; however, I can’t see this album taking off with the older generation.
The songwriter is well known for churning out music in 15 minutes, and she told a website that she wrote this entire album is just 15 days. With this in mind, she could have created a better album had she spent more time on it.
The song titles such as snowflakes, mistletoe, Candy Canes and Puppies makes the album sound like a children’s fantasy world.
The song “Snowman” is one of the best songs on the album. It’s a ballad played on the piano about a relationship that explores both loss and love.
I have read other reviews, and according to Sia fans, their favourite songs include; Candy Cane Lane which has a Phil Spector 60s sound and Snowman.
I have mixed feelings about this album.
I think any artist who is brave enough to take on a Christmas album and write brand new songs deserves some credit, however, unlike traditional festive songs having listened to the album I fail to see how these tunes encourage people to buy the album.
The album only has ten songs on and is 30 minutes long, and other albums have more songs on lasting from 45 minutes up to 1 hour. I can’t help feeling that given her creativity Sia could have gone all out and penned a few more tracks or added some special edition songs.

It will be interesting to see if any of the songs mentioned in the Christmas music CD review will stand the test of time.
