The Samsung Galaxy S9 is to be unveiled next month
The new Samsung S9 Galaxy will be unveiled at a Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona next month.
DJ Koh, president of the technology company’s mobile division, confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ would launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tradeshow in February.
Since 2014 Samsung has used the famous MWC tradeshow to announce the latest flagship Galaxy S series.
The flagship phone is also said to be relatively dull, according to BGR, who says, “The phone is supposed to offer a slew of improvements compared to the Galaxy S8, in an otherwise “boring” design.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will purportedly sport the same 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch dual-curved, edge-to-edge Super AMOLED “Infinity Display” as the Galaxy S8 and S8+, respectively.
Both models will keep the 3.5mm headphone port – something previously rumoured to have been ditched in favour of USB-C headphones.
Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will keep the Bixby button, introduced last year alongside the artificial assistant of the same name.
Those with inside knowledge of Samsung’s plans believe some crucial changes are on the way.
According to sources, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will include built-in AKG stereo speakers this time around.
The cameras will be aligned vertically on the back of both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, so the fingerprint scanner is positioned beneath the lens.
If history is anything to go by, the S9 will go on sale in late March or early April, although an exact release date is still unknown. Samsung did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The S9 is likely to set you back around £700 and the S9+ £800.
Mobile World Congress will run from February 26th to March 1st, 2018.
