Best Wireless Bluetooth headphones for gym use

JAYBIRD x3

I’m looking to treat myself to a new pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones for the gym as my wired old Apple earphones aren’t the best quality, and the wire gets in the way on the treadmill.

Here are some of the latest wireless Bluetooth headphones for the gym:

Jaybird X3

The Jaybird X3 headphones are waterproof and their focus is on fit. The X3 are aimed at runners and won’t fall out of your ears when you start pounding the treadmill or pavements.

They have an eight-hour battery life which would suit me as I only spend up to 2 hours in the gym five days a week.

Jaybirds are a little bit pricey at £94.99 from Amazon, but sometimes you only get what you pay for, and they are still slightly cheaper than AirPods.

The Bose SoundSport Pulse

The Boss Sound sport Pulse earphones have a heart-rate monitor which is ideal for me as they will help me monitor my performance, they are rumoured to be comfy, and they sync with third-party apps.

The sound is also rumoured to be excellent, however, at £200, I’m not sure I’m prepared to spend this amount on earphones no matter how good they are.

My FitBit tracks my heart rate, and I’m sure that there are comfy headphones out there that also link to third-party apps that cost less money.

Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless In-Ear Headphones

Beats by Dre are popular headphones that have a good battery life of 6 hours and connect well with my iPhone.

They also charge quickly (in just 15 minutes) which is ideal for a super busy person such as myself who often runs around charging phones, laptops and Fitbits during the morning before heading to the gym.

Being sweat and water-resistant is also a must as I will be using these headphones for the gym.

Fitbit Flyer’s

As a Fitbit fan, I was pleased when I saw an email from them introducing the new Fitbit Flyers.

I like the fact that these headphones are also built for sport, and as I’m already familiar with Fitbit products and I have the app attached to my iPhone, I’m tempted to purchase a pair of Flyers.

They have a slower charge time than some of their competitors as it takes an hour to charge them up and only 6 hours of playtime.

At £109 they aren’t cheap, but I don’t mind paying if the sound and quality are excellent and the headphones are comfy when doing gym workouts and eventually I plan to go on runs.

Apple Airpods

I’m currently using my free Apple headphones in the gym that came with my iPad, iPhone and iPods.

The sound is ok but not great, they aren’t waterproof or Sweatproof, and they aren’t the comfiest.

The most annoying thing about them is the wire gets in the way when I’m running on the treadmill.

I’m tempted to stick to Apple as I’ve seen a lot of YouTube personalities also wearing the new Airpods, but I’m not sure if they are the best for wearing in the gym.

Verdict

I’m going to test some gym headphones out in the shops as I like to see products and get a feel for what they sound and look like before ordering.
